Crown Vetch
Trailing Crownvetch - Coronilla varia.
Perennial. Height 40 cm.
An unpretentious ground cover perennial with creeping shoots branching at the base, reaching a length of up to 100 cm.
Already in the year of sowing, it forms a dense elegant carpet of small pinnate, emerald green leaves and charming hemispherical inflorescences, of a pale pink hue, effectively contrasting with the foliage. After flowering, the plants are decorated with many decorative pods.
Crown Vetch enriches the soil with nitrogen with the help of bacteria living on its roots, in addition, it is an excellent honey plant. Great for creating bright color spots in flowerbeds, flower beds, vertical gardening.
Agrotechnics.
Sowing: April - for seedlings or June - in open ground. Seeds require preliminary stratification: sow seeds to a depth of no more than 0.5 cm, moisten from a spray bottle, cover with glass and place in a refrigerator (temperature + 2 + 4 ºС). Crops are kept in such conditions for 7-10 days, then transferred to room conditions. It is necessary to monitor the humidity of crops and ventilation. At a temperature of + 18 + 20 ºС shoots appear in 10-14 days. To enhance branching, seedlings need to be pinched over 3-4 leaves. Seedlings are planted in open ground in early June with a clod of earth on light, fertile soil.
Care: Prefers full sun or partial shade in well-drained, well-drained soil. Care consists in regular watering, fertilizing plants with a solution of complex mineral fertilizer.
Flowering: June-September.
