Festuca amethystina

Homeland - mountains of Central Europe and Transcaucasia. An evergreen grass of bluish color, up to 30 cm high. It forms flat, fluff-like hummocks of bristly leaves. The flower panicles are greenish-purple. In cold winters it freezes over, but recovers. A 10-15 year old plant forms a cushion up to 1 m in diameter. Propagated by seeds.
