Pyrus malus L.
Antonovka apple tree - Malus domestica Antonovka.
Antonovka is an old Russian variety, or rather a type of apple tree. It earned the people's love and widespread distribution back in the middle of the last century, and still easily holds this palm. The Antonovka apple tree is a tree up to 5 m high with a rounded, spreading crown, very strong branches and trunk, large dark green leaves, up to 10 cm long. By the end of May, the tree blooms with charming white or soft pink fragrant flowers, in place of which the fruits ripen in September-October. The apples are medium-sized, round, ribbed. The color when fully ripe is light yellow, sometimes with a blush. The pulp is white, coarse-grained, wine-sweet with a characteristic sourness, very aromatic. The fruits are consumed fresh and are good for processing: juices, compotes, jam, making pastilles and marmalades, using as a filling for pies. They are especially valuable for soaking and storage.
