Foeniculum vulgare L.
A perennial herbaceous plant of the Umbelliferae family, 150-200 cm high. There are common fennel and vegetable or sweet fennel. The latter is grown to obtain a thickened part of the stem. Fennel is placed on fertile loamy soils, in open, sunny places. Propagated by seeds.
