Chufa sedge "Nut grass"
Heat-loving herbaceous, sedge-like plant with tuberous edible "cones" - nodules. Nodules contain about 32% fat and 28% sugar. Can be used as a substitute for coffee and cocoa. Shoots, closing up, form a green carpet. Up to 400 nodules are formed in one bush. Planted with nodules in the ground in May or for seedlings indoors in April - March. The soil is desirable well-drained, and the place is sunny or in partial shade. Embedding depth: 2-3 cm. Vegetation period 140-150 days. Harvesting is carried out in September - October when the leaves turn yellow.
