Ephedra distachya
A low-growing, drought-resistant and branched dioecious shrub, from 15 cm to 1 m in height. Its stems are shortened and covered with dark gray bark. The branches are light green (later gray). In May-June, the plant is covered with small, yellow flowers, collected in small spikelets, in place of which decorative scarlet cones (false berries) are then tied.
