Lagerstroemia indica
The most luxurious guest of any windowsill, balcony or winter garden, which tolerates pruning and bonsai formation very well.
This is an evergreen ornamental plant with a smooth trunk, originally from China and Korea. It is common in all tropical countries, where it grows as a shrub. The opposite oval leaves on the branches are reddish at first, and as they grow they acquire a green color. The shrub begins to bloom in the summer, when the longest days come. Several varieties of this plant are known, differing from each other in the color and shape of the leaves.
Lagerstroemia indica is one of the few woody and shrubby plants that shed their leaves when kept indoors. In the summer, the plant requires warmth and a lot of sun in order to bloom profusely.
