Bigleaf lupine "Russel mix" - Lupinus polyphyllus.

As a rule, during self-sowing, after a few years, the so-called degeneration of the variety occurs, that is, the disappearance of different colors and the predominance of the dominant one.
In lupine, this color is blue-violet. Therefore, if a mixture of colors initially grew on your site, then in 4–5 years only blue lupins will grow in this place.
To save especially beautiful specimens, the second method of reproduction is used - dividing the bush.
Renewal buds, formed at the base of the stem, are cut out with a sharp knife, along with a piece of the root collar, and planted in sandy soil in a shaded place.
The best time to do this is right after the end of flowering.
After 20-30 days, young roots appear on the cuttings, and the plants can be planted in a permanent place.
