Description: With the setting sun the "night phlox" opens up tilling the garden, patio or conservatory with a delicious and powerful fragrance that gives the air, particularly on a warm evening, a tropical aroma. Easy to grow, sow a little in many places, where you walk or sit in the garden. Height 60 cm. Sowing Instructions: Sow in a good seed compost 1.5 mm deep in early spring. Germination takes 7-14 days at 15-18 C. Alternatively sow outdoors where they are to flower in late spring in drills 3 mm deep and thin the seedlings out to 15 cm. Growing Instructions: Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into boxes or singly into 7.5 cm pots. Grow at around 10-13 C. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out in spring after all risk of frost has gone, 15 cm apart. Aftercare Instructions: They prefer an open sunny position and will grow well on most soils. Pot a few seedlings to make charming summer flowering pot plants too.
