Rockspray cotoneaster "Kljukvennaja Rossyp"
Rockspray cotoneaster "Kljukvennaja Rossyp"
Successfully gives in to pruning, forming an excellent "hedge"!
One of the finest looks. Evergreen shrub up to 50 cm high, with horizontally spread, pinnately branched shoots almost pressed to the ground, located in the same plane. Remarkable are its small, almost rounded, up to 1.5 cm, dark green glossy leaves, purple in autumn. Flowers solitary or paired, sessile, with pinkish-reddish petals. Blooms from late May to mid-June, for three weeks. The fruits are spherical with a diameter of 4-5 mm, bright red, shiny, ripen in September and keep massively until December, and in the lower part of the bush - even until the next spring, giving the plants a special decorative effect.
Due to the dense crown, shiny dark green leaves and bright numerous fruits that persist on the branches for a long time, the shrub has gained immense popularity.
It looks great on the edges, in group and single plantings on the lawn, along the borders, in the form of dense hedges, on rocky hills, slopes and terraces, as a ground cover plant.
Agricultural technology.
Drought and gas resistant. This species is demanding on soil fertility. It grows rapidly and grows strongly in breadth (crown diameter more than 1 m). Photophilous. It hibernates under snow or with a light cover of dry leaves or peat with a layer of 3-6 cm. It is undemanding to soil moisture, but it grows better on soils with the following composition: soddy land, peat compost, sand in a ratio of 2:1:2. Drainage is required (gravel or broken brick, 10-20 cm layer). After planting, the seedlings are mulched with peat, a layer of 5-8 cm.
Sowing: seeds have a long dormant period and germinate very difficult. They must be stratified and sown in the fall of next year.
Care: in the spring, a complex mineral fertilizer or 20-30 g of urea (urea) per 10 liters of water is applied. In summer, before flowering, give granular superphosphate 60 g / sq. mi 10-15 g / sq.m of potassium sulfate. Watering is needed only in very dry summers, 1-2 times a month, 8 liters of water per plant. Loosening is carried out shallow (10 -15 cm) after the removal of weeds.
Cotoneaster successfully lends itself to shaped pruning, forming dense hedges of medium height. Pruning is allowed for 1/3 of the length of the annual shoot.
