Nemophila discoidalis
Nemophila.
Hardy Annual. Flowers: Summer. Height: 4 inches. Position: Sun or Partial Shade. Ideal For: Bedding, Border, Edging, Ground Cover, Patio, Tubs. Germination: Easy. Aftercare: Easy.
Description: Here is an annual thats "as pretty as a picture". There is an incessant parade of sumptuous 2 cm, rich deep purple to black flowers with - the master touch - a scalloped silvery-white edge. It has truly ground hugging habit (not unlike annual alyssum) that will provide ground cover and contrast for all containers, hanging baskets, and it makes a tidy edging plant. Trailing 5-10 cm. Hgt. 30-38 cm.
Sowing Instructions: Sow early spring outdoors where they are to flower. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sow 1.5 mm deep in rows 15 cm apart. Germination usually takes approximately 21 days. An autumn sowing outdoors will provide earlier flowers and in a coldframe will produce spring flowering pot plants in the cold greenhouse. Growing Instructions: When large enough to handle thin out to 15 cm apart. They prefer a site with part shade or a sunny position that does not dry out.
