Platycladus orientalis
Oriental thuja "Green Hedge" (Biota).

Perennial. Plant height up to 10 m. Oriental biota or thuja will remind you of the southern, sun-drenched alleys. It is an evergreen tree, which is especially suitable for groups and alleys, clipped hedges and borders, rocky gardens. Biota is an evergreen tree with a pyramidal or ovoid, highly branched crown at the base, reaching 9 m in diameter, formed by uplifted branches. The needles are scaly, dark green from the beginning of the growing season until autumn (turns brown in winter). Cones are oblong, fleshy and bluish-green before maturity, later dry and reddish-brown, very decorative.

Agricultural technology. During spring sowing, the seeds are stratified for a month or soaked for 12 hours in water, or kept in wet sand until sprouts appear. Biots tolerate transplanting well, especially in spring. The plant can grow in almost any soil, as long as it is well drained. Care consists in moderate watering, top dressing, moderate haircut. In severe winters, it is recommended to cover the plant.
