Watermelon "Krasnaya Zvezda"
Watermelon "Red Star".
A super-early ripening variety. The plant has a medium-tall, vine-like habit. The leaf blade is broadly lobed and deeply dissected. The fruits are spherical, weighing up to 5-7 kg. The fruit is light green with dark green stripes. The flesh is bright red, juicy, sweet, and tender. The juice contains up to 13% dry matter, and 9-10% total sugar.
Value of the variety: high yield due to the high plasticity of the variety, complex resistance to fusarium and anthracnose, excellent taste and aroma.
Agricultural technology.
Sow seedlings in early May. Transplant seedlings into open ground in late May - early June, when they have 3-4 true leaves. Planting pattern: 100x100 cm.
In southern regions, they can be grown by direct sowing in the ground in April-May. When grown under plastic covers, plants are trained into a single stem (all side shoots are removed up to a height of 50 cm, and subsequent shoots are pinched above the first to third leaf) and tied to a trellis.
For good growth and abundant fruiting, plants require timely watering, regular weeding, loosening and fertilizing with mineral fertilizers.
