It grows in Siberia, in the Polar Urals, in Central Asia, Mongolia. It occurs in light forests, in subalpine and alpine meadows, in high mountains up to an altitude of 2500 m above sea level. The Asian swimsuit can be found in the meadows near the melting snows, where there are many of them.
Herbaceous, brush-rooted perennial. The flowers are large, spherical, up to 5 cm in diameter, the sepals are orange-red. This is one of the most beautiful wild plants. Petals-nectaries, gradually expanded upwards, orange, the same length as the sepals or slightly exceeding them. Basal leaves petiolate, 20-30 cm high. When cultivated in Estonia, it blooms in May-June for 20-25 days. The rosette of basal leaves is up to 30-40 cm in size, and the peduncle is up to 70-75 cm. The plants are plastic, very picturesque even on poor soils with a lack of moisture. However, plants reach their best condition on soils rich in leaf humus. Bathing suits suffer seriously only in dry years, when they need additional watering. Seed reproduction. Division of adult plants is possible.
In culture since 1759. The most beautiful species of the genus. It has terry forms with an increased number of bright sepals.
