A perennial plant from the Scrophulariaceae family, grown as a biennial.
Grows wildly in Southern and Eastern Transcaucasia, the Mediterranean, Asia Minor.
The prominent peaks of dense golden-beige inflorescences of this stately perennial are expressive both in the flower garden and in the cut.
Numerous powerful arrows of shoots up to 1.8 m high in the lower part are densely leafy. The leaves are linear, up to 40 cm long, smooth or slightly pubescent. Dense cylindrical racemes of rather large, unusually shaped flowers covered with fluff, ocher-brown in color with rusty-red spots that occupy two-thirds of the peduncles.
