Woolly foxglove (Digitalis lanata)
Woolly Foxglove - Digitalis lanata.
It is found in Moldova. This is a perennial (or biennial) plant with a single flower stalk and brownish-yellow flowers with purple veins, smaller than those of the purple foxglove. The axis of the inflorescence is densely pubescent. It blooms in July-August, seeds ripen a month later.
The plant is up to 80-100 cm tall. The stem is erect, single. The leaves are oblong-ovate, pointed. The flowers are brownish-white with a spherical swollen corolla, forming a long pyramidal dense raceme.
Widely used for planting on lawns, in mixborders, flower beds (group plantings are very effective against the background of a lawn).
It is used in the treatment of heart diseases in the form of tincture.
Agrotechnics.
The plant grows well in the sun and tolerates partial shade. Prefers loose, fertile, well-drained soils. Propagated by sowing seeds in May-June on breeding beds. The seeds are lightly sprinkled with soil. At a soil temperature of +18 °C, seedlings appear on the 14-20th day. Seedlings are pricked out in the phase of 1-2 pairs of true leaves. In August, seedlings are planted in a permanent place, maintaining a distance between plants of 30-40 cm.
