Swamp Cinquefoil (Purple Marshlocks) - Comarum palustre = Potentilla palustris.
A perennial wetland plant from the Rosaceae family, known for its hardiness and remarkable vitality. One of the first species to colonize shallow wetlands and marshes.
A compact semi-shrub about 25–40 cm tall, with branched, rooting stems and decorative pinnate leaves. Leaflets are elongated-lanceolate, dark green above, silvery-gray and softly hairy beneath.
Natural range: in the tundra of northern Europe, in eastern and western Siberia, central Europe, as well as in Scandinavia, Mongolia, China, Japan, and North America.

Flowering: From June to July, the plant is adorned with large, striking flowers with dark purple petals and sepals. Loose, umbrella-shaped inflorescences give it an elegant appearance. The fruits are numerous small nutlets that ripen from August to September.
