Slipper Flower "Pioggia D´Oro" - Calceolaria herbeohybrida.
Very attractive decorative flowering plant. Bush 15-20 cm high, with rounded, densely pubescent, delicate light green leaves. The plant is shade-loving and needs regular and abundant watering.
After flowering, cut short, transplanted and cultivate as a 2-year-old plant. Seeds are sown from May to October in pots with light sandy soil, do not sprinkle with earth.
The planting container is covered with glass, the soil is kept moist during shading.
1,0 g = 60000 seeds.
Location: calceolaria is photophilous, cold-resistant and relatively drought-resistant, grows well on nutritious and loose soils.
Care: at the beginning of growth, regular watering is needed, adult plants are watered less often, mainly when the soil dries up. Too much water causes plant roots to rot. With regular feeding with full complex fertilizers, calceolaria will thank you with abundant and long flowering.
In autumn, you can transplant calceolaria into a pot and put it to winter in a bright room with a temperature of + 5 + 10 ° C. In this case, in March, the plant is pruned, removing the shoots by one-third or half.
In early June, they are planted on balconies, in containers, in the foreground in mixborders and on alpine slides.
Diseases and pests: affected by the whitefly. At the same time, yellow spots appear on the leaves. Immediately remove the affected parts of the plant, and spray the plants themselves repeatedly with an interval of 1 week with an infusion of insecticidal plants or an emulsion containing mineral oils.
It is also affected by aphids and spider mites.
Reproduction: seeds, which are very small: 1 g contains up to 60,000 pieces. To obtain 100 plants, 0.05 g is needed.
For normal flowering, seeds in March are scattered on the surface of loose soil and covered with glass. Seeds cannot be covered, otherwise, they will not be able to germinate. Shoots appear in 12-15 days. Good seedlings grow in the light, in a cool place. Seedlings dive a month after germination. They are planted in a permanent place in May, leaving 15-20 cm between plants.
Use: calceolaria is more interesting not in the mass, but in close contact, so it is planted on balconies, in containers, in the foreground in mix borders, as well as on alpine slides.
