Melon "Ogen" F1
Melon "Ogen" F1.
A taste that cannot be forgotten!
Mid-early hybrid variety (80-85 days from germination) for intensive cultivation technology. Designed for growing in film greenhouses.
The plants are short-climbing, compact and have good fruit set, good for placement on a vertical trellis. The fruits are small (800-1000 g), segmented, without a mesh or with insignificant elements of it. The leaf is five-lobed, with a long middle part.
The pulp is greenish-white, juicy, sweet, aromatic, with a melting consistency. When ripe, the fruits turn yellow and are easily separated from the stalk. The average fruit weight is about 800-900 g. The fruits are segmented, without a coarse network. The pulp has a melting consistency, white-greenish colour, and medium thickness. The hybrid is tolerant to bacteriosis.
Planting density: 3 plants/m2.
Productivity: 7-9 kg/m2 in unheated greenhouses.
Sowing Instructions: sow from late winter/spring 1 cm deep in a good seed compost. Germination usually takes 6-10 days at +24 °C.
Growing Instructions: transplant when large enough to handle into 7,5 cm pots and then 13 cm pots before planting 1 m apart in the greenhouse border, frames or cloches, or outdoors when all risk of frost is gone.
Aftercare Instructions: pinch out the growing point after 5 leaves have been formed. Hand pollinate by placing a male flower inside a female bloom. Female flowers have a swollen part at the base of the bloom.
