Ornamental Millet "Inky" (Pearl Millet) - Pennisetum glaucum.
Accent plant in the garden - blooms all summer long!
A beautiful annual herbaceous plant, 90-110 cm high. It grows well and bushes out efficiently.
The inflorescence is a dense, fluffy, dark purple-brown cylinder, 15-20 cm high and 2-2.5 cm in diameter. The foliage has an intense purple-burgundy colour.
Widely used in landscaping - to create colourful flower beds, bright spots, complement other flower arrangements, and also as a solo plant on the site. Purple-burgundy inflorescences look good in dry bouquets and winter arrangements.
Cultivation instructions.
Prefers sunny places and partial shade. The soil requires loose, moist, nutrient-rich conditions. To obtain seedlings, seeds are sown in prepared soil in spring. Germination is carried out at a temperature of +18+20°C for 3-4 weeks, maintaining constant humidity. Further, the temperature regime is maintained within +16+18°C and humidity is reduced. Crops can be sprinkled with vermiculite. Transplant to a permanent place when the threat of severe frost has passed. During the growing process, regular watering, loosening, weeding of sites, as well as fertilizing on the 4th and 6th weeks are performed.

Pennisetum glaucum Inky

Location: very light-loving, cold-resistant, relatively drought-resistant and not demanding on soils.
Care: watering is needed for seed germination, especially if it is very dry and hot. 2-3 feedings after thinning enhance growth and flowering.
Reproduction: by seeds, there are 500 pcs in 1 g. To get 100 plants, you need 0.5 g of seeds.
Sown in open ground in May in nests of 3-4 seeds at a distance of 25-30 cm from each other. For early flowering, seeds are sown in April: in pots for seedlings.
Seedlings appear in 8-10 days. They must be thinned out - otherwise, flowering will be weak.
Use: large panicles are excellent material for fresh and dry bouquets. They are also beautiful on a rock garden and in a mixborder.
