African marigold "Alaska" - Tagetes erecta.
These marigolds will definitely not disappoint - you will be able to enjoy their splendour in your garden for a long time.
Annual. Plant height 60-80 cm. Flower diameter 8-12 cm.
The stunning lemon colour of the flowers and the peculiar appearance made them very popular.
Forming a beautiful compact bush with numerous large flowers, they will paint flower beds, containers, flowerpots with bright colours for a long time.
Sowing: for seedlings in March-April, in areas with a mild climate, it can be sown in open ground in May. 1.0 g = 650-700 seeds.
Seedlings are planted outdoors when the threat of frost has passed. The distance between plants is 40 cm.
Marigolds are not picky about soil and moisture. They prefer open sunny places, but also grow in partial shade.
Care: watering and top dressing (2-3 top dressings with an interval of 7-10 days).
When the marigolds grow, watering should be stopped, but feeding should be continued (with an interval of 10-14 days).
For top dressing use complex mineral fertilizer. To prolong flowering, faded flowers must be removed.
Flowering: June to frost.
Partners: Marigolds pair well with daisies, calendula, rudbeckia, cosmea and pelargonium.

Eng.: African marigold, Aztec marigold. Suom.: Isosamettikukka. Sven.: Stor tagetes. Bot. syn.: Tagetes major Gaertn.
