Winter squash "Sweet Pie" (Pumpkin).
An early-ripening table variety. 85-100 days from germination to harvest. The fruits have a beautiful shape and color, weighing 5-7 kg. They look very decorative in the garden bed and perfectly decorate the interior after harvesting. The flesh is orange, crispy, sweet, and juicy. It is excellent for cooking and canning. In any year, the variety will delight you with stable and large yields. The fruits are suitable for short-term storage (3-4 months).
Up to 4-5 fruits are left on the plant, pinching the growing point on the main stem and side shoots.
Agrotechnology.
The best soils for pumpkins are sandy loam and light loamy. Pumpkins are sown when the soil warms up to +10+12°C. Seeds are planted to a depth of 3-5 cm. 2-3 seeds are sown in one hole. After the emergence of seedlings, weak plants are removed in the phase of 1-2 true leaves.
Pumpkins are also grown through seedlings, with planting in open ground at the age of one month (phase of two to three true leaves). Long-vined varieties are sown in an ordinary way according to the 1.4x1.0 m scheme. Bush forms of pumpkins are sown in a square-cluster way according to the 80x60 cm scheme.
Plant care includes: pinching off lateral vines, pinching the main stem (after setting several fruits), watering, weeding, loosening, and mandatory top dressing. For better formation of adventitious roots, the plants are slightly hilled with moist soil.
Harvesting of fruits is carried out at the end of the season, before the onset of the first autumn frosts.
