Massive spherical dark red root vegetable, with a diameter of 4-5 cm, the flesh is thin and crispy.

* Radish is a long-day plant. This means that on a long day (more than 14 hours) plants form peduncles, flowers, and seeds. On a short day (10-12 hours), good root crops are formed, but flower stalks do not form for a long time. The formation of flowering shoots increases in thickened crops, with a lack of moisture, air and soil. In this case, the root vegetables are woody, rough, and bitter. To avoid stemming, they try to sow radishes at the earliest possible time, when the daylight hours are 14-15 hours (end of April - May).
In order to have this vitamin-rich root crop for a long time, radishes are sown at several times with an interval of 5-10 days throughout May.
In the second half of May, it is better to sow varieties resistant to bolting.
When sowing radishes in summer under conditions of long daylight hours and hot, dry weather, flower stalks form, the plants shoot and root crops are not harvested. To obtain radish root crops for consumption in the fall and for storage, radishes are sown in the second half of July. It should be noted that currently there are varieties that practically do not respond to day length, and they can be sown throughout the summer (Duro, National, Novired, Saxa-2, etc.).
The earliest products can be obtained when grown in greenhouses. For this purpose, glass and film greenhouses are used. If the greenhouse is heated with biofuel, then you can sow radishes as early as March.
When growing in a greenhouse, it is important to maintain the optimal temperature: before germination +18+20°C, then reduce for 3-4 days to +10+12°C during the day, +6+8°C at night (and then maintain the temperature at +15 +18°C - during the day, +10+12°C - at night).
Radishes are sown in greenhouses and as a compacting crop. You can sow radishes even before planting the main crop. The harvest in a greenhouse can be obtained in 25-30 days. If necessary, greenhouses are ventilated, maintaining optimal temperature and air humidity (60-70%).
