Romaine lettuce "Gelbus" (Romaine lettuce or cos lettuce).
The heads are of excellent quality and have a long shelf life.
A mid-season variety. The rosette is medium-sized and upright. The head is medium-sized. Weight: 150-200 g. The leaves are lanceolate, dark green, crisp, and juicy.
This variety is characterized by high yield and a long shelf life. It is intended for consumption in autumn and winter. At temperatures of +3 to +4°C, it can be stored for 2.5-3 months.
For winter storage, dig out of open ground no earlier than October 15-20 with a lump of earth and store in the basement.
Agrotechnics.
Seeds are sown in the first half of July. Crop care consists of shallow tillage between rows, weeding, and watering in dry weather.
Irrigation regimen affects nitrate ion concentrations in plants, especially at high temperatures. During head formation, irrigation is applied only in furrows.
Cleaning is carried out in the evening or early morning, when the plants are cooled and therefore better retain their fresh marketable appearance.
