Narrow glossy leaves of excellent texture, less than 2 mm wide, form a dense, round tussock. In October the foliage takes on a copper tint.

Delicate wide panicles appear in August - September and rise on very thin stems above the foliage to a height of up to 70 cm. These panicles are fragrant. The aroma has been described by various authors as that of coriander or popcorn. The slender, round tussock has deep roots and withstands drought well. Warm-growing cereal. It grows slowly; it takes at least about 4-5 years for the tussock to acquire a decorative appearance after sowing. This long-lasting, trouble-free plant grows in size every year for a decade without dying of the center or needing to divide.
Grows easily in most soils, including heavy clay, in full sun to light shade. Abundant moisture and fertile soil speed up growth somewhat. It is better to propagate by seeds, which are stratified before sowing.
An excellent plant for any garden where it can be used as a ground cover. It will find a place in a regular garden, as well as natural gardens, prairie gardens and meadow gardens.
Keep crops at -4 +4ºC for 12 weeks, then at +20 ºC for germination.
