Fleshy stalks of gigantic proportions!
A mid-season stalk variety (160-180 days from germination to cutting).
Plant Characteristics:
The leaf rosette is powerful and erect, up to 90 cm high. A single plant consists of 13-15 leaves and reaches a weight of 0.9–1.1 kg (the total mass of the plant can reach up to 3 kg!). The power and size of this giant will surprise any gardener.
The leaves are medium-sized, green, and glossy.
The stalks are erect, large, thick, 50-60 cm long. They are tightly closed, light green, very juicy, and fragrant. The weight of the marketable stalks is 700-800 g.
The yield is 3.7–4.5 kg/m².
Variety Advantages:
High yield, excellent quality, marketability, and good preservation after cutting.
One of the best varieties for fresh consumption: salads, side dishes, home cooking.
Agrotechnics:
Recommended to be grown strictly via seedlings
USEFUL TIPS FOR SEED PREPARATION:
1. Disinfection:
To destroy pathogens (bacterial, fungal, viral) on seeds and protect seedlings from soil infections, soak seeds for 15-20 minutes in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate (1 g per half glass of water) before sprouting. Then rinse thoroughly in clean water. Seeds may acquire a brown tint — this is normal.
2. Bubbling (Sparging) for slow-germinating seeds:
An effective method to accelerate the germination of celery, pepper, and eggplant. It involves treating seeds in water saturated with oxygen.
How to do it at home:
Pour water into a jar (2/3 full) and lower an aquarium compressor air stone to the bottom. Turn on the compressor. Pour in the seeds (there should be 4 times less seed mass than water).
The seeds must be constantly in motion with air bubbles.
Duration of bubbling (until sprouting starts):
* Celery — up to 7 days;
* Pepper — 3 days;
* Eggplant — 2 days.
