Cultivation Guidelines:

Location: Prefers shaded areas. In full sun, especially in dry weather, inflorescences fade by late June, developing yellowish tones. Fragrance diminishes in low-humidity conditions.
Propagation:

  • By dividing clumps, cuttings, or seeds sown in open beds in autumn.

  • Spring sowing in protected soil is possible after one month of cold stratification.
Seedlings are robust and fast-growing, flowering in their second year. Divide clumps in late April or early September, spacing plants 40 cm apart. Plants can thrive in the same location for 10+ years. For cuttings, use young shoots with partially developed leaves and a "heel" (piece of older tissue).

Landscape Use: Ideal for herbaceous and shrub borders, mass plantings, or as a specimen plant.

Companion Plants: Pairs elegantly with dark-foliaged shrubs such as MahoniaCotoneaster lucidus, and purple-leaved Euonymus. Combines beautifully with large-leaved perennials like Rheum (rhubarb), Ricinus (castor bean), and Ligularia. Harmonizes with Iris sibiricaAquilegia (columbine), GeumTrollius asiaticusBrunneraAstilbe, and Phlox.
