Creeping tomato "Mongolian Dwarf" for open ground.
Less care - more harvest!
An ultra-early, wonderful variety developed by Siberian breeders. The bush has a determinate growth type. There is no need to tie it up, as the bush creeps perfectly on the ground and can even occupy an area of up to 0.5 m2. The height of the bush in open ground is only 30 cm, and the width is 40-50 cm.
The fruits are quite large, weighing 100-200 g, deep burgundy-red in color, dense, meaty, and balanced in taste: a real tomato flavor!
"Mongolian Dwarf" is simply a godsend for busy gardeners: it requires no pinching or staking. It can calmly survive a lack of watering, but such experiments are undesirable, of course.
* Preparation of tomato seeds for sowing. First of all, calibration, disinfection, and hardening of seeds are carried out. To reduce the susceptibility of future plants to diseases, sorted seeds are placed for 10-20 minutes in a 1-2% solution of potassium permanganate (5-10 g per 1 liter of water). Then they are washed and dried. A good effect is given by heating the seeds before dressing. To do this, place the seeds in a gauze bag and warm them for 2-3 hours near a stove, on a heating radiator, or dip them in hot water (+60°C) for 20 minutes. For hardening, the seeds dressed in potassium permanganate are placed in a gauze bag inside a glass jar and kept in the refrigerator at a temperature of +1...+3°C for 3 days.
Sowing of tomato seeds is done in boxes, filling them with a soil mixture of the following composition: 2 parts compost, 1 part sawdust or peat, 1 part sand. Add 15 g of ammonium nitrate, 20 g of double superphosphate, 10 g of potassium sulfate, or 2 cups of wood ash per bucket to the soil mixture. The mixture is poured into boxes, leveled, slightly compacted, watered, grooves 1-2 cm deep are made at a distance of 5-7 cm from each other, and seeds are sown in them at intervals of 3-4 cm (3-5 g per box).
Cover the seeds to a depth of 1-1.5 cm. Until emergence, the boxes are kept covered at a temperature of +20+25°C, moisturizing as the topsoil dries with water heated to +20+25°C. As soon as the seedlings appear, the covers are removed from the boxes and placed by the window for the day, and in a warmer place at night. Seedlings are watered moderately, initially with water warmed to +22°C, and then with room temperature water.
