Zucchini squash "Nimba" - Cucurbita pepo L. var. giraumonas.
Early maturing variety (fruiting begins on the 39-43rd day). The plant is a bush form with 1-2 first-order whips. The fruits are aligned, cylindrical in shape, dark green in color with light stripes.
The peel is of medium thickness, crispy, tender, the pulp is creamy white, crispy, very sweet, juicy. Taste qualities are excellent. The fruits are perfectly stored and transported.
For zucchini, light, fertile soils with a low occurrence of groundwater are most suitable, it does not tolerate acidic soils. The best predecessors are early vegetables, onions, root crops, tomatoes, potatoes.
The area is dug up and fertilized with organic and mineral fertilizers, as well as ash, before planting, and limed if necessary.
Sowing of seeds is carried out at the end of May - beginning of June after the spring frosts have passed. Seeds are sown in holes of 2-3 pcs. The distance between the holes is at least 60 cm. After emergence, weak plants are carefully removed.
Further care consists of regular watering, loosening, hilling and fertilizing.
Fruits are harvested regularly at intervals of 2-3 days, preventing them from overripe. Zucchini can be grown through seedlings. For seedlings, they are sown in early May, seedlings are planted in open ground in early June in the phase of 2-4 leaves.

* Once upon a time, zucchini was just a curious American variety of hard-rind pumpkin. But the fact that it is cold-resistant and ripens early determined the success of this vegetable in the simple assortment of the northern garden. Zucchini came to Europe two centuries ago from Turkey, taking with them the local name - in Turkic "kabak" means "pumpkin". And at the end of the 20th century, an Italian with American roots, zucchini, appeared in our gardens.
Like a younger brother, he adopted the best features from his older brother (white-fruited zucchini) and surpassed him in almost everything ...
Ordinary zucchini has rather long lashes, sometimes up to one and a half meters, while zucchini looks more compact and even more spectacular - due to large dissected leaves. Sometimes you don't even want to approach zucchini without putting on gloves, and zucchini has softer and more delicate pubescence. Its bush is a real decoration of the garden: it blooms and bears fruit abundantly, and the varieties can be of different shapes and colors: elongated and spherical, green, yellow, very dark (almost black), variegated.
