GARDENER'S SCHOOL: Nasturtium's Character.
What does it love and what does it hate?
1. Soil and Nutrition.
Nasturtium prefers moderately fertile and moist soils. But be careful!
* Hates: Excess fertilizer (especially nitrogen and fresh manure). Rich soil makes it produce lots of leaves but very few flowers. It also does not tolerate lime.
* Loves: Phosphorus fertilizers — they stimulate abundant flowering.
2. Watering.
Do not overwater, especially during flowering. Excess moisture also reduces the number of flowers.
3. Temperature.
Nasturtium is very sensitive to cold. It does not tolerate even the slightest frost. If there is a threat of frost, seedlings must be covered.

Sowing Secrets:
* Direct Sowing: Most often grown by direct sowing from early to late May. Seedlings appear in 2 weeks. Flowering begins 40-50 days after germination and lasts until the first frost. The later the sowing, the lower the risk of frost damage, but flowering will also start later.
* Seedlings: Can be grown from seedlings (3 seeds per pot) for earlier blooms. Important: when transplanting, you must keep the root ball intact! Nasturtium reacts very poorly to root disturbance.

GREEN PHARMACY: Healing Nasturtium.
Aerial parts and seeds are used for medicinal purposes. The plant contains glucotropaeolin, Vitamin C, and phytoncides.
Properties:
It has anti-inflammatory and diuretic effects, and improves metabolism.
* Infusion: Used for anemia, skin rashes, and kidney stones.
* Decoction with honey: Helps with stomatitis and oral thrush in children.
* Hair Growth Recipe: An alcohol tincture (1:10) of a mixture of nasturtium leaves and nettle leaves (in equal proportions). Rubbing into the scalp stimulates hair growth.
