The plant is perennial. Stems erect, branched, up to 120 cm tall, noticeably woody. Baskets 6-7 cm in diameter. Reed flowers are golden yellow, tubular flowers are yellow. The location prefers sunny, protected from strong winds. Soils prefer fertile, loamy, non-acidic, without stagnant water. Sow in the ground in spring or throughout the summer and early autumn. Blooms in the second year after sowing. Flowering is long, plentiful, until frost. Good for cutting.
Heliopsis seeds germinate best at +20°C. The division of plants is carried out every 4-6 years.
Position: Full Sun.
Ideal For: Border, Cut Flower.
Germination: Easy.
Aftercare: Easy.
A gorgeous, first year flowering perennial. Crowds of double and semi-double golden yellow, large, daisy like flower heads on strong branching stems. Excellent for a sunny border, or an attractive cut flower.
Sowing Instructions.
Sowing Time: February to June. Sow in pots or trays of moist seed compost and cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a constant temperature of between +20+25°C. After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination can take 1-3 months.
Growing Instructions: When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7,5 cm pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30-45 cm apart. For best results, provide a light, well-drained soil in full sun.
