African Marigold "Clinton" - Tagetes erecta.
The blooming of marigolds is a real delight for the eyes! It is impossible to imagine a flower garden without these lovely flowers.
Even the most inexperienced gardener can grow them without difficulty. They demonstrate the full luxury of their flowering in sunny places.
Tall marigolds (up to 70 cm) with very large double spherical orange inflorescences with a diameter of 7–9 cm.
Used for planting in flower beds, borders, and for cutting. Cut flowers stand in water for a long time (13-15 days).
They grow well in planters, flower girls, and pots. They contain phytoalexins, so other plants nearby are less susceptible to pest attacks.
Sowing: end of May in open ground to a depth of 1.5-2 cm (to accelerate flowering - for seedlings in April).
Seedlings are thinned out, keeping a distance between plants of 15-20 cm. Seedlings are planted in open ground when the threat of frost has passed. Distance between plants 20-25 cm.
Agrotechnical features: sowing for seedlings or directly into the ground. Shoots appear in 7-14 days at an optimal temperature of +20+22°C.
Planting in a permanent place when the threat of return frosts has passed. Placed in open, sunny areas. Not demanding on soil.
Sowing: April-May.
Transplanting: May(3)-June(1).
Planting scheme: 25x25 cm.
Flowering period: July-September.
