Roman Shields
Roman Shields - Fibigia clypeata.
Perennial with dense grayish pubescence. Stem up to 50 cm high, densely foliated. Crosses of yellow flowers form long brushes at the ends of the stems. Pods are about 2 cm long.
In the wild, it grows on dry hills and rocky places in the Crimea, Transcaucasia and the Mediterranean.
Plant height: 40 cm.
Flowering period: May-June.
Winter hardiness zone: Z5-Z9.
Grown from seeds that are sown in the spring. Prefers sunny, well-drained rocky areas. Collect after the seeds have ripened and remove the pod valves, leaving translucent partitions. It turns out to be a very beautiful and elegant structure.
Used for a rock garden, decorative fruits for cutting and for dry bouquets.
