* Stocks (Gillyflowers) bloom well only in open, sunny areas with loose, non-acidic loamy soil, which is enriched in the autumn by adding compost and mineral fertilizer.
Soil drying out is detrimental to these plants, so in dry weather they require regular watering. However, stocks should not be planted on damp, waterlogged areas, as their decorative value also sharply decreases there.
