Pheasants tail grass "Buffalo's Gold" - Stipa arundinacea = Anemanthele lessoniana.
A spectacular perennial grass 50-90 cm high. Impressive with the coloring of the leaves, which, like a chameleon, changes throughout the season. Dark green in May-June, leathery leaves by August are colored in gold, pink, orange, red and brown tones. Openwork greenish-purple spikelets form a light picturesque "fog" above the bush from June to September.
This elegant grass is created to be a soloist - it is so beautiful and unusual. It is ideal for voluminous garden flowerpots, the center of a raised flower bed, an alpine slide. A single plant or small groups look good against the background of a lawn. Inflorescences are used in cutting for live and dry flower arrangements. It needs well-drained, neutral soil in acidity and a sunny place. Protection from strong winds is desirable.
The plant is evergreen, but in Estonian conditions it does not overwinter in open ground. We recommend transplanting the bush into a container in late autumn and keeping it in a light room with a low positive temperature during the winter.

Eng.: New Zealand wind grass, Pheasants tail grass, Gossamer grass, Sirocco. Bot. syn.: Agrostis lessoniana Steud., Oryzopsis lessoniana (Steud.) Veldkamp., Anemanthele lessoniana (Steud.) Veldkamp.
