Bunching Onion "Totem" F1
Bunching Onion (Scallion) "Totem" F1.
A special variety of onion, specifically designed to produce green stalks (feathers) when grown from seed.
Mid-season, high-yielding variety for greens. From sowing to the first harvest is 70-80 days. The leaves are bright green, tender, juicy, do not become coarse for a long time, with a pleasant semi-sharp taste and high Vitamin C content. The basal bulb is small and white. Salad variety, intended for fresh consumption.
Recommended for fresh use in salads and vinaigrettes, soups, and for garnishing snacks. It is added to vegetable, meat, and fish dishes, as well as to minced meat, pie fillings, various sauces, marinades, and dressings. It can be frozen and used in winter as multivitamin greens.
Sowing seeds directly into open ground is carried out in late April - early May, to a depth of 1.0-1.5 cm according to the scheme 4-5 x 10-15 cm.
Harvesting begins in late June — early July, when the leaves reach a height of 20-30 cm.
* To avoid excessive accumulation of nitrates in vegetables, particularly in onion leaves, certain rules must be observed.
Do not get carried away with nitrogen fertilizers; their doses should not exceed 20 g per 1 m2. Before applying mineral nitrogen fertilizers, acidic soils must be limed (neutralized). Mineral fertilizers are best applied together with organic ones. When growing leafy vegetables, the use of pesticides used to control pests, diseases, and weeds should be minimized.
