Wood Sage (wall germander) - Teucrium chamaedrys.
Perennial of the Lamiaceae family.
Native to: Central Europe (dry meadows, alpine steppes, rock crevices, calcareous, nutrient-poor meadows).
Height of flowering plant: 25-30 cm.
Flower color: pink.
Foliage: simple, ovate, serrate, finely hairy, green, fragrant.
Natural flowering period: June - August.
Hardiness zones: Z4 - Z8.
Deciduous subshrub with root suckers. Stems are erect, pubescent, with a large number of ovate-oblong pubescent leaves. Flowers are pink, 1-1.3 cm long, collected in one-sided racemose inflorescences.
Used mainly in rock gardens, or as a low border plant.
1.0 g = 600 seeds.
SOWING: before winter or in January-April for seedlings. Flowering occurs the following year.
The seeds are laid out on the surface of a damp, slightly salty substrate with a pH of 5.5-6.5 and lightly sprinkled. Spray and place under glass to maintain constant humidity. The seeds germinate in 35-45 days, at a temperature of +18+22°C. The seeds germinate in the light, but try to avoid direct sunlight. Subsequently, the humidity and temperature are reduced to +15+18°C, but make sure that the soil does not dry out.
Start feeding the seedlings with nitrogen, gradually increasing the dosage. After 4-6 weeks, plant the seedlings in pots (4x4cm).
Prefers a sunny location or partial shade.
CARE: the plant is unpretentious. Regular nitrogen fertilization is carried out as part of a complex mineral fertilizer, which is stopped after mid-September. To increase the density of shoots, pruning is done at ground level. To avoid freezing, they are removed indoors or covered for the winter.
