Hollyhock "Christmas" - Alcea rosea.
A perennial plant from the Malvaceae family, cultivated as a biennial.
Up to 2.0-2.5 m high, blooming from late June to September.
The flowers are double, like suede, dazzlingly white (8-12 cm in diameter), collected in a large and very effective "inflorescence-brush".
It is photophilous and drought-resistant, undemanding to soils, but prefers areas with well-cultivated fertile soil. It is advisable to cover it for the winter.
Grown by direct sowing in open ground in May.
It is used for planting in groups, mixborders, for decorating the walls of buildings and fences, as well as for cutting.
