Tomato "Bedouin"
Tomato "Bedouin".
Sweet chocolate "light bulb" for your health!
A high-yielding mid-early variety that is a godsend for gourmets and diet-conscious people. The plants are indeterminate (up to 1.5 m tall), vigorous, with unusual "potato" leaves.
Characteristics:
* Fruits: Original pear-shaped (resembling a light bulb), weight 90-110 g.
* Color: Upon ripening, they acquire a noble brownish-chocolate hue.
* Taste: The flesh is dense, juicy, with a delightful sweet taste and high sugar content.
* Yield: 5-7 fruits form per cluster. About 2 kg can be harvested from one bush, or 5-7 kg/m².
Variety Value:
"Bedouin" is not just a tasty tomato, but also a healthy one. It is rich in Vitamin C and beta-carotene. Its main advantage is that it does not cause allergies (unlike red tomatoes), making it ideal for dietary nutrition.
Excellent both fresh (salads, slicing) and for whole-fruit canning (the dense skin does not crack).
CULTIVATION:
Plants should be pruned to 1 stem with mandatory removal of side shoots (suckers) and tying to a support. The variety is vigorous and fruits well even in cool climates.
HISTORICAL REFERENCE:
This variety originates from Russia. It became popular in Europe thanks to Swedish collector Ake Truedsson, a member of the Seed Savers Exchange organization, who introduced it around 2008.
