This heirloom variety produces an abundant yield of small red fruits weighing between 40 and 80 g. Their shape varies from classic round (slightly ribbed at the stem) to round-oval with a neat little "spout" (tip). They possess a unique flavor that perfectly balances sweetness and a slight tanginess.
Shape: round-oval.
Texture: dense/firm.
Color: red.
Fruit Size: 4–6 cm.
Foliage: regular.
History: This old variety originates from Russia. It was included in the tomato collection of the Prague Seed Bank in 1961.
An early-ripening variety for growing in open ground and greenhouses. The determinate, compact plant (40-50 cm tall) requires absolutely no staking or pruning (pinching). The smooth and firm fruits are highly recommended for fresh consumption and whole canning.
Variety value: ultra-high yield, extremely low maintenance, disease resistance, and excellent pickling qualities.
Planting and care.
Sow for seedlings in March into moistened soil to a depth of 1-1.5 cm. Prick out the seedlings at the stage of the first true leaves. Plant out in open ground at the age of 50 days. Seedlings are planted in heated greenhouses in April, and under temporary film covers in May using a 70x40 cm spacing. Watering should be infrequent but abundant at the root. Feed 4-5 times per season. The plants respond well to hilling and soil loosening. It is advisable to carry out preventive treatments against late blight (3 times with a 10-day interval). Use plant protection products against diseases and pests if necessary.
