Mullein - Verbascum nigrum var. album.
Perennial from the Scrophulariaceae family.
Distinctive features: slightly branched.
Stems 40-110 cm tall, erect, simple, sometimes branched above, sparsely covered with branched hairs. Flowers on long stalks, collected (3)5-10 in apical, usually quite dense spicate raceme, sometimes slightly branched. The calyx is almost to the base divided into linear lobes.
Flower colour: pure white with purple stamens.
Natural flowering period: July - August.
Winter hardiness zones: Z4 - Z8.
Soil requirements: dry.
Location: drought-resistant. They prefer a sunny location, although they tolerate light shade. They don't need cover.

Care: cut off the stems after flowering - this will prolong the life of the mullein.
Reproduction: by sowing seeds in the ground in May - June. 1,0 g = 8100 seeds.
In the first year, a rosette of large leaves develops. Young plants bloom in the second year. Varieties are propagated by root cuttings.
