Switch grass ''Primo'' - Panicum virgatum.
An annual, multi-stemmed, erect plant 40-70 cm high. The leaves are quite wide and long.
The panicles are very large, up to 25 cm, dense at the base, spreading higher, with small, rare spikelets, reminiscent of fountains. Blooms in July (until September).
Growing: in a sunny, warm place.
Soil: from moderately dry to moist, any garden soil.
Care: water in dry weather. Fertilize a little. Cut in spring.
Reproduction: by division in spring. Seeds, 1 g of them are 300 pieces. To obtain 100 plants, you need 1.0 g of seeds.
Sowing is carried out directly into the ground in May in nests of 3-4 seeds at a distance of 20-25 cm from each other.
Shoots appear in 8-10 days, they need to be thinned out.
Application: plants can be planted in a mixborder, on a rocky hill, but their main purpose is fresh and dry bouquets.
For drying, inflorescences are cut immediately after earing and at the beginning of flowering, since the upper part of the panicle quickly crumbles. Panicles are dried laid out or in bunches.

Eng.: Panic grass, switch grass. Bot. syn.: Pennisetum violaceum (Lam.)
