Watermelon "Orange King" - Citrullus lanatus.
Large-fruited, high-yielding variety of medium-early ripening with an unusual appearance and orange pulp. Suitable for growing in open ground and under temporary film covers. The first collection is carried out 65-70 days after germination.
The fruits weigh 9-10 kg, under good growing conditions, they can be even larger. The pulp is tender, melting, sweet and tasty, with a high sugar content (12-13%), and has a carotene flavour. The variety is well transported and stored for up to one month.
Sowing seeds for seedlings or in open ground in late May - early June to a depth of 2-3 cm. When grown in greenhouses, plants are tied to a trellis and formed into one stem. All side shoots up to a height of 50 cm are removed, subsequent shoots are pinched after the third leaf. In open ground, the first 3-4 ovaries are left on the plant, then the top is pinched. Plants need timely watering, weeding, loosening and fertilizing.
