Wintry green onion "Wita" - Allium fistulosum.
Mid-season variety (40-50 days from the beginning of leaf growth to technical maturity) of perennial onion. It is distinguished by high winter and frost resistance. It grows well in one place for 3-4 years.
The leaves are light green, very tender, up to 30 cm long, and do not become coarse for a long time when harvested together with the bulb. The taste is semi-sharp.
Value of the variety: high yield, excellent taste, long period of return of commercial green onions, high winter hardiness.
Agrotechnics: the most fertile areas are chosen for growing onions. The best predecessors are cucumber, tomatoes and legumes.
For a perennial crop, the best time for sowing seeds is the end of April - beginning of May, it can be sown in the summer (July-August).
Sow in rows with a distance of 20-30 cm between rows and 4-6 cm between plants in a row. The seeding depth is 1-2 cm.
After thinning, the planting density should be 6-10 plants per 1 m2. Plant care consists of weeding, loosening, fertilizing and watering. It grows well in one place for 3-4 years.
Young leaves are cut at a height of 5-7 cm from the ground 3-4 times during the growing season. After each cutting, the plantings are fertilized and watered.
