Black-eyed Susan "Irish Eyes" (Green Eyes) - Rudbeckia hirta.
An unpretentious, strikingly abundantly flowering plant with large daisy-like inflorescences. The bush is upright, well-branched, and 65-80 cm tall. The flower heads reach 8-12 cm in diameter and sit atop long, sturdy stalks.

This is a unique variety of Rudbeckia hirta, widely known among gardeners as «Irish Eyes». By nature, it is a short-lived perennial that in practice is most often successfully grown as an annual. The plant is absolutely undemanding. The variety is perfect for decorating bright mixed borders, formal flower beds, and makes a magnificent cut flower. The large golden «daisies» with an unusual olive-green center attract a multitude of butterflies and bees to the garden. Blooming is very early, abundant, and prolonged: it delights the eye from June right up until the frosts.
Rudbeckias prefer open, sunny locations without water stagnation. They tolerate the impact of heavy rain and wind perfectly, growing quickly and vigorously. They are excellent for group plantings in flower beds and for creating high borders. Successful cultivation in containers is also possible.
Agrotechnics. The plants are quite cold-resistant (adult bushes easily tolerate the first light frosts).
Sowing for seedlings: done in March – early April (uniform emergence occurs in 2 weeks). With the appearance of two pairs of true leaves, the seedlings are carefully pricked out into individual pots. Hardened seedlings are planted in the open ground in late May.
Direct sowing: it is possible to sow seeds directly into the open ground in June – July. However, keep in mind that blooming in this case will only occur in the second year (a light winter cover is advisable for the young rosettes).

Bot. syn.: Rudbeckia amplectens, Rudbeckia monticola Small, Rudbeckia serotina Nutt.
