Horseshoe pelargonium "White"
Horseshoe pelargonium "White" - Pelargonium zonale.
A popular perennial indoor plant from the Geraniaceae family. During the period of abundant flowering, geranium gives windows a festive look. It forms a voluminous and compact bush 35 cm high, 25 cm in diameter. The leaves are green, with a characteristic clearly defined pattern on the leaves. Snow-white flowers form large, spherical inflorescences.
With careful care, it can bloom all year round.
Pelargonium is light-loving, unpretentious in culture and easily tolerates a lack of moisture. Place the plant on sunny eastern and western windows. In the warm season, it loves abundant, frequent watering. In winter, depending on the temperature, water more moderately. Feed the plant with mineral fertilizers enriched with potassium. To obtain flowering plants by the beginning of summer, sowing is done from December to February, using pure peat or a mixture of peat with sand as a substrate.
For indoor use, sow in March-April. Seedlings usually appear 2-3 weeks after sowing. In the phase of two or three true leaves, the plants are pricked out into pots.
For better tillering, the seedlings are pinched above the fifth or sixth leaf. In summer, it is advisable to take pelargonium out into the fresh air, and in winter, place it in a cool, light room with a temperature of +10+12°C. Geraniums are used in green balconies, verandas, and loggias. They are used in flower arrangements in semi-shaded areas of the garden.
