Blue Granadilla "Sweet bowl"
Sweet granadilla "Sweet bowl" - Passiflora caerulea.
Beautiful flowers and delicious fruits!
Height 2.5-4.5 m.
Perennial liana, capable of quickly twining around a support of any shape, forming a magnificent green screen, decorated with star-shaped flowers.
Rapid growth, unpretentiousness in care, uniquely beautiful flowers - all this makes it an ideal plant for the home, greenhouse or winter garden. After flowering, the plant produces cute edible fruits.
Growing conditions.
Reproduction: cuttings, less often - seeds. Sowing all year round. Pre-soaking of seeds for a day at a temperature of +21+27°C is recommended.
Sowing to a depth of 2-5 mm in a well-drained soil substrate consisting of loam mixed with fine sand. To obtain friendly shoots, it is necessary to maintain an optimal germination temperature of +19 +24°C and constant humidity. Picking in the phase of the first pair of true leaves, being careful (do not bury the elongated seedlings).
It is advisable to provide the seedlings with a 12-hour daylight.
Lighting: maximum, on the southern window the passionflower can be completely covered with flowers, however, shading may be necessary during the hottest hours. On the northern window the passionflower will grow and bloom if the window is not shaded by anything, however, the flowering will be sparse. An eastern and western window not shaded by trees is well suited.
Temperature: in summer - +18+24°С, in the heat the leaves turn yellow and dry, few buds and flowers are formed, and the plant quickly loses its attractiveness. In the fall, it is advisable to reduce the room temperature to +13+16°С. In a warm room with a heating system, the passionflower will go bald, losing all its leaves.
Watering: abundant from spring to fall. The soil should be moist all the time. In winter, water once every 7-10 days.
Air humidity: spray regularly in spring and summer if the plant is not exposed to sunlight.
Fresh air: requires a constant supply of fresh air, but loses leaves in a draft. In spring, when night frosts end, the plant can be taken out onto the balcony or, even better, into the garden.
Replanting: annually in spring. Before replanting, even before the buds appear, passionflower is cut by about 1/3 of the length of the branches. The soil is prepared from 1 part turf, 1 part leaf soil, 1 part peat soil and 1 part sand.
Feeding: from April to August, every two weeks feed with fertilizers for indoor flowering plants (the dose is taken 2 times less than recommended).
