Red beet "Alto" F1
Beetroot "Alto" F1.
Roots are perfectly stored in winter.
Medium late variety, from full germination to technical ripeness 125-130 days. The root crop is cylindrical, smooth, uniform, dark red.
The head (the place where the leaves are attached) is small, with weak suberization, and the leaf mass is small. The weight of commercial root crops is 250-340 g.
The pulp is dark red, juicy, dense, sweet, without rings or coarse fibres. The taste is excellent.
The variety is characterized by the high marketability of products (94%). Resistant to stemming.
Recommended for all types of processing and long-term winter storage.
Seeds are sown in late April - early May, in soil heated to a temperature of +8+10 °C, to a depth of 2-3 cm, in rows with row spacing of 25-30 cm. The seedlings are thinned out in increments of 8-10 cm. They can also be grown through seedlings: sowing at the end of April and planting hardened seedlings in open ground a month later.

* When to sow beet seeds and how to care for this vegetable?
Beet is more thermophilic than other root vegetables.
Seeds are sown in fertile soil warmed up to +8°C, approximately two weeks after sowing carrots (for Estonian conditions, this time is approximately May 10-15). Seedlings appear 5-7 days after sowing.
Beet prefers fertile, loose soil and good lighting, but, like all plants with red leaves, it tolerates a little shade.
In the initial period of growth, the crop needs moisture, but from the moment the root crop is set, it can not be watered at all, since the roots of beets can penetrate into the soil to a very great depth, and there is always moisture there.
