Tomato "Wild Galapagos"
Wild Tomato "Wild Galapagos" - Solanum cheesmaniae.
A unique, aromatic, and high-yielding variety straight from nature!
These vigorous plants produce an abundant harvest of small, orange, grape-sized tomatoes. The flavour is intense and complex. Very versatile in cooking, although its taste is best revealed when baked or sun-dried.
Why choose wild?
Wild tomatoes are naturally resistant to diseases and adverse growing conditions. Let them grow freely outdoors or in a greenhouse, give them space and support, and they will produce hundreds of fruits. Can also be grown in large pots on balconies or terraces.
10 seeds are enough for an area of 6 m² (due to their vigorous spreading habit).
Agrotechnics.
Sow seeds from March to April. Note: sowing depth 0.5-1 cm. Cover with glass or film for quick germination.
Prick out seedlings at the phase of 1-2 true leaves. Harden off 7-10 days before planting out.
Planting out: April for heated greenhouses, May for unheated ones/outdoors. Density: wild types need space (2-3 plants per m²).
Staking is mandatory as they grow tall and wide. Unlike standard tomatoes, they are forgiving if you miss some pruning, but training to 2-3 stems is recommended for better management. Regular watering with warm water ensures juicy fruits.
