A beautiful perennial palm tree, reaching 20 m in nature. The plant is unpretentious, very interesting for indoor floriculture.
Washingtonia filiformis differs from Washingtonia robusta in its relatively short but thick trunk and looser crown. It prefers to grow in dry places and is slightly more resistant to cold. Spectacular green fan-shaped leaves (up to 2 m) on developed petioles consist of numerous leaf segments, between which thin curly threads hang.
In natural conditions, dried leaves bend downwards and hang on the tree, forming a wide "skirt" around the trunk.
At home, withering leaves are removed along with most of the petiole, the remains of the petioles become woody and form a powerful trunk.
It blooms in spring with long brushes with fragrant yellow or white flowers. Red-black fruits with oval seeds ripen at the end of summer.
Prefers sunny places and abundant watering with warm water during the period of intensive growth. With the onset of autumn, watering is gradually reduced, the plant is placed in a bright, cool place. The palm is transferred annually, gradually increasing the size of the pot.

When the seedlings get stronger, transplant into individual pots.
